A High-Speed Stacker for a High-Volume Line
At the Idaho Forest Group (IFG) Lewiston, ID facility, Gillingham-Best installed a high-speed automatic stick-laying stacker — a right-hand unit handling 6- to 20-foot lumber in 48-inch-wide packs.
It runs GBI’s patented Variable Pan Geometry™ (VPG™) technology and Fastack™ frame design, which together deliver precise sticker placement, minimal motion, and rapid stacking cycles — the throughput and consistency a high-capacity operation like IFG Lewiston requires.
The stacker places stickers with precision under each course, even with marginal or bowed material:
- VPG™ sticker placement accurate under every course
- Fastack™ frame minimizes motion — sustained high-speed stacking with less wear
- Clear operator interfaces and diagnostic monitoring, with quick adjustment for varying dimensions
IFG’s Lewiston mill produces 2″ × 4″ through 2″ × 12″ lumber up to 20 feet long, with annual capacity exceeding 300 million board feet. At that volume, green-end automation is essential to consistent sticker placement, stable pack formation, and uninterrupted flow toward drying, sorting, and shipping — supporting IFG’s reputation for American-made lumber in domestic and export markets.
