Hybrid Plywood + Lumber Stackers

A single Gillingham-Best stacker that handles both plywood panels and dimensional lumber — engineered for wood-products treating plants serving fire-retardant, preservative, and specialty treating lines.

Overview

One Stacker for Plywood and Dimensional Lumber

The Hybrid Plywood + Lumber Stacker is a GBI configuration built for wood-products treating plants that process both plywood sheets and dimensional lumber through the same treating line. A single automated stacker places stickers under either product type with no operator reconfiguration between runs.

The unit uses the same patented Variable Pan Geometry (VPG) sticker-placement mechanism and Fastack frame as GBI’s standard lumber stackers, with a rugged below-chain stick delivery path and console-adjustable width/thickness parameters.

This product is sold into treating-plant applications only. Gillingham-Best does not currently serve plywood production mills; all plywood handled by GBI equipment today is processed downstream by treating plants.

In Operation

The Machine Runs Itself

This is the Hoover Treated Wood installation in Fairfield, TX — a hybrid stacker running solid-pack plywood on an auto cycle. That's the GBI single-operator story in one shot: the machine handles the cycle, the operator monitors, not operates.

Key Features

What Sets It Apart

  • Single automated platform handles plywood panels and dimensional lumber.
  • VPG stick placement holds exact alignment under each course across both product types.
  • Fastack frame minimizes motion for rapid stacking cycles and reduced maintenance.
  • Screen-based console — operators change width and thickness setpoints without mechanical adjustment.
  • Full package diagnostics and below-chain stick delivery.
  • Designed for the duty cycle of a treating line running mixed product.

Applications

Where It Fits

  • Fire-retardant-treated (FRT) lumber and plywood production lines.
  • Preservative-treated (pressure-treated) lumber + plywood operations.
  • Specialty treating plants serving commercial, multi-family, and industrial markets.
  • Plants requiring rapid changeover between panel and board stacking.
