Infeed and Outfeed Transfer Systems
Lumber transfer, accumulation, and conveying systems engineered by Gillingham-Best to feed stackers and move completed packages downstream — matched to the stacker’s throughput and the mill’s layout.
Overview
Material Handling That Feeds and Follows the Stacker
A stacker is only as productive as the material handling that feeds and follows it. GBI designs and builds infeed and outfeed transfer systems matched to each stacker installation: lug chains, belts, tilt hoists, decks, accumulators, and package handoff to band tying, strapping, or yard transport.
Systems are engineered to the stacker’s target boards-per-minute, lumber length range, package width, and the mill’s floor plan. Controls integrate with the stacker’s PLC so the entire stacking cell operates as one coordinated system.
Key Features
What Sets It Apart
- Lug chain, belt, and deck transfers sized to BPM target.
- Tilt hoists and package accumulators for continuous stacker feed.
- Outfeed to band tying, wrapping, and yard transport systems.
- Controls integrated with stacker PLC — single coordinated cell.
- Custom layout engineering at GBI’s Spokane plant.
Applications
Where It Fits
- New stacker installations requiring full cell integration.
- Replacement of legacy or worn transfer equipment feeding existing stackers.
- Reconfiguration of mill-floor flow during line upgrades.
